Sarah Renier

Sarah Renier is one of the longest-standing workers at Khanyisile Fishing (KF). Sarah left the company for a short time before returning in April 2015 and has remained loyal to the company ever since, demonstrating a fiery passion for her job.

Sarah is a cleaner and is responsible for keeping a specific portion of the factory clean and safe for the other workers – a responsibility that she takes very seriously indeed. Since factory floors are often wet from condensation and the chilly temperatures, it’s up to Sarah to remain focussed and diligent about washing and drying them to reduce the risk of slips and falls.

She speaks about her love for her job and how she truly enjoys every aspect of her role at Khanyisile Fishing.

“Every day, I say ‘thank you’ to God for my job and for what I do!”

Sarah is a proud Atlantis resident, a mother to three children, and a grandmother to a beautiful five-year-old boy. She sadly lost her eldest child in 2018 and talks about how her other kids and grandson are her inspiration for continuing to push forward. Her kids are 11- and 16-years-old with dreams of becoming respected, hard-working professionals in the future.

As a single mom, it’s up to Sarah to bring home the bacon and she hopes that her dedication and work ethic serve as inspirations for her family.

“I don’t believe in sitting at home,” she says. “You have to get up and earn your money!” – an important lesson that she strives to pass onto her children.

Sarah is just one the 80+ indomitable women working at Khanyisile Fishing – and committed to the development and upliftment of the Atlantis community.
