Lamla Bleni

An inspiring young man who is wise beyond his years, Lamla Bleni is originally from the Eastern Cape and was born and raised in a family of 7 children. Although extremely close to his mother and siblings, Lamla made the decision to venture to the Western Cape in search of work shortly after finishing school. He landed a job at Khanyisile Fishing not too long after settling down in Witsand and kick-started his career – and his first job out of school – as a general worker, quickly climbing the ranks to become a team leader despite being the youngest member within the department.

So far, he’s absolutely loving his job and claims to have learned many things from his colleagues.

“There are a lot of things I’ve learned here, like respect and helping others. If someone needs help, you must help without looking for anything in return. Also, you mustn’t look down on others. Everyone deserves respect,” he says.

Lamla talks about how he admires his superiors and the way in which they are always dedicated to ensuring a happy and thriving workforce.

“If you are happy, your boss is happy. You can’t work with a grumpy face!”

Lamla is excited to see where his career takes him but admits that he still has dreams of one day becoming a farmer – his lifelong passion. For the moment, though, he’s more than content in his position and hopes to continue doing the company proud for as long as possible. After all, as he says, his superpower is being a fast worker and following instructions.

Lamla acknowledges the importance of obtaining the quota for which the factory has applied and is focused on doing everything he can to help the company achieve it.

“It’s very important. It will make a huge difference financially to everyone who works here,” he concludes.
