Angelo moved to Atlantis many years ago to pursue another job, but he says he’s very pleased that he wound up working at Khanyisile Fishing. He kick-started his career with the company as a plumber before moving into the maintenance department and, eventually, heading up the crumb department.
“Over 11 years, I’ve gone from plumbing to crumbing!” he jokes. “I tell everyone that it’s important to work hard and be patient. Success will reach you.”
Titus is married and a father and speaks about how he enjoys being at work to ensure that he can provide for his family. Since becoming a manager, he has saved up enough money to buy a house – an accomplishment of which his loved ones are incredibly proud.
When asked what he loves most about his job at Khanyisile Fishing, Angelo immediately acknowledges how much he enjoys working with people and how it has been an enriching journey that has empowered him to embrace his leadership potential. He explains how it often takes time to blossom within a leadership role.
“You learn on the job how to interact with and guide others. It’s important to take the time to be there for your team. That’s how you earn their respect.”
“Talk to your team. Joke with them. Keep them smiling. Work shouldn’t just be about pressure,” he adds.
Overall, Angelo is exceptionally proud of his team and their achievements. He describes how the crumbs team comprises many diverse, dedicated, and hard-working individuals who are constantly pushing their boundaries.
He smiles and comments, “If I set a target, they always deliver. That’s rare!”
When asked what the future holds for him, Angelo claims that he intends to stay at Khanyisile Fishing and perhaps move back into maintenance at some stage as fixing things and keeping busy are his true passions in life. He’s especially proud to work at Khanyisile Fishing because he believes that it’s one of the local companies that works hard to serve its community.
“Khanyisile Fishing consistently serves the community. If they can help, they will,” he concludes.
